1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using First Responders Africa (including our website, mobile application, dispatch tools, and volunteer network services), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be legally bound by these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree with any portion of these terms, you must discontinue your use of our platforms and digital applications immediately.
2. Nature of Emergency Network & Medical Disclaimer
First Responders Africa is a community-first mutual aid, civilian responder coordination, and emergency first-aid education platform. We bridge the critical pre-hospital gap between the onset of an emergency and the arrival of professional statutory emergency medical services.
- Not a Replacement for Statutory Emergency Services: In any critical or life-threatening situation, you must contact national or local statutory emergency services (Police, Ambulance, Fire) directly whenever reachable.
- Good Samaritan Principles: Volunteer civilian responders and trained transit workers provide first-aid assistance within their voluntary capacity and certifications under accepted Good Samaritan standards.
- Informational Content: Educational articles, guides, and safety protocols published on our platforms are for informational, training, and awareness purposes only, and do not constitute formal medical diagnosis or individual clinical prescriptions.
3. User Accounts & Responsibilities
When creating an account on our platform or mobile application, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete personal and contact details.
- Maintain the confidentiality of your authentication credentials, passwords, and security tokens.
- Promptly notify First Responders Africa of any unauthorized access, misuse, or suspected breach of your account.
- Assume full responsibility for all activities occurring under your registered profile.
4. Community Responder Conduct & Standards
All enrolled civilian responders, community champions, and dispatch operators agree to uphold strict ethical standards:
- Provide unbiased, dignified care without discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, religion, or nationality.
- Operate strictly within the boundaries of personal training, basic life-support skills, and active certifications.
- Respect the privacy and sensitive personal data of patients and individuals receiving emergency assistance.
- Never misrepresent professional medical qualifications or solicit unauthorized payments for voluntary emergency care.
5. Emergency Incident Reporting & Dispatch Abuse
Our rapid emergency dispatch system relies on genuine, real-time community reports:
- Transmitting false, hoax, prank, or fraudulent emergency broadcasts is strictly prohibited and constitutes a criminal offense under regional telecommunications and public safety regulations.
- First Responders Africa reserves the right to immediately suspend accounts, permanently ban offenders, and report false alerts to relevant law enforcement authorities.
6. Donations & Financial Contributions
All donations made via M-Pesa, Paystack, bank transfers, or international gateways directly support responder trauma kits, certified medical training programs, emergency dispatch infrastructure, and humanitarian relief across African communities.
Donations are voluntary and non-refundable unless required by regional consumer protection legislation or made due to demonstrable technical duplicate billing.
7. Intellectual Property & Brand Rights
All software, brand logos, visual marks, graphics, articles, curriculum materials, and layout designs on First Responders Africa are the proprietary intellectual property of First Responders Africa and its affiliated non-profit bodies. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any portion without our prior written consent.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable regional laws, First Responders Africa, its directors, employees, dispatch operators, and volunteer responders shall not be held liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, our platforms, communications delays, third-party network outages, or on-scene emergency occurrences.
9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by, construed, and enforced in accordance with the laws of Kenya and applicable regional jurisdictions across East Africa, without regard to conflict of law principles.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to amend or replace these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated via our website or in-app announcements. Your continued use of the platform following any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
